Where the Path Widens

I have always walked away
from the centre
from the edge
from vengeance, hatred, love
“any club that would have me as a member.”

I’m limping now
my shoes have holes
my faithful dogs long gone.

Recently I thought I heard footsteps
lighter than mine close by
and last night dreamt of a wider path
and the hint of a goal that isn’t at my back.

this piece embraces the reader, rewards them with that glimpse of hope.

it feels gentled, intensely intimate, supremely honest. actually brought a few tears to my eyes with the end S. good, clean writing – again.

for all the bright and stirring words
    the burnished poets pen,
i far prefer the quiet ones
    that make me feel, again.

Your words contain warm thoughts. I’m glad that life is like that. C

Wonderful! Leaves something for the reader to ponder at the end.

We’re actually (all 7 billion plus) in the same club, I think, and this is where the path widens is your last stanza.

    Well done.
